How to create redirect for Shopify 404 page?

404 page makes your customers disrupted when shopping, which may make you lose them. The solution in this case is to create redirect for 404 page to make sure your customers can experience in your Shopify store smoothly.

There are 3 ways for you to create redirect for your Shopify store:

  1. Automated

Automated is the easiest way to create redirect as you will do nothing. Shopify will automatically create a redirect from the old URL to the new URL when you change the handle of elements in Shopify. And this feature is set defaulted.

Shopify supports creating automated redirect for 4 pages types as Products, Collections, Pages and Blog Posts.

  1. Manual

  • Online store> Navigation
  • In the upper right corner of Navigation, you can add, edit or remove redirections in URL redirect box.
  1. Bulk Upload

  • Add Chrome extension
  • Login your Shopify
  • At any page in Admin, you just need to tap 301 icon. Then a modal pop-up will appear
  • Add new redirects in text box.

*Note:

  • Each redirect should be on a separate line
  • The old URL starts the line, and the new URL follows and they are separated by a space
